The First China Die & Mould Industrial Development Summit Forum (Huangyan), hosted by the China Die & Mould Industry Association (CDMIA) and the People's Government of Huangyan District, was grandly held in Huangyan on November 18, 2017. Huangyan has long enjoyed high reputation as “China Mold Town”. The forum was sufficiently planed and carefully organized. The theme of the forum was “Made-in-China 2025 and Huangyan Die & Mould Industry Upgrading Development”. A communication and discussion platform for attendees was established in forms of keynote speeches, round-table meeting, sub-forums, on-the-spot investigation and guidance, and so on. Academicians and professors in scientific and technological circles, experts and entrepreneurs in industry gathered at the Huangyan Forum.

In the opening ceremony, Deputy Secretary of Huangyan District Party Committee and District Mayor of Huangyan Chen Jianxun spoke first. He expressed a warm welcome to the experts, leaders and guests attending the forum and sincere gratitude to the friends giving long-term support to the development of die and mould industry in Huangyan. He also introduced the basic situation and the future planning of Huangyan die and mould industry, and wished the forum a complete success. Then, President of Taizhou Die & Mould Industry Association Liang Bin, President of Zhejiang Mould Industry Association Bao Mingfei, Secretary-general of the CAAM Shi Jianhua, and President of CDMIA Wu Bingshu successively delivered passionate speeches. Subsequently, the launching of China Die & Mould Industrial Development Summit Forum (Huangyan), the awarding ceremony of “China Pilot Export Base for Plastic Moulds” by the CCCME, as well as the signing of Strategic Cooperation between SAC/TC 33 and People's Government of Huangyan District were respectively carried out.
On the theme forum in the morning, Li Dequn, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, delivered a speech titled Development Trend of Intelligent Moulds—Development and Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in Injection Molding. Academician Li explained the history and trend of artificial intelligence, need of injection molding intellectualization, study results obtained and key technologies ongoing of their team in an easy understandable way.
Professor Chen Jin, Yangtze River Scholar, Professor of Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy in Tsinghua SEM and Director of Research Center for Technological Innovation in Tsinghua University, gave a speech titled Frontier and Prospect of Technological Innovation. Professor Chen introduced the way by which management and policy cooperate with the development of the technology innovation from the perspective of management.
Professor of Xi'an Jiaotong University Wang Yongxin made a speech titled 3D Additive Manufacturing Technology and Industry. Professor Wang Yongxin is also a team member of Academician Lu Bingheng, National Engineering Research Center for Rapid Manufacturing. Professor Wang not onlyintroduced the basic concept, classifications, application fields, application cases of 3D printing technology and the development trend of 3D printing equipments, but also shared his long-term experience of the technology transformation into industry.
Professor of Zhenzhou University Liu Chuntai made a speech of Engineering Plastics and Composites Lightweight Applications and Mold Technology. Professor Liu Chuntai is also a team member of Academician Shen Changyu, National Engineering Research Center for Plastic and Rubber Mould. Professor Liu shared the challenges and research results of lightweight technology from three aspects including the problems in forming and molds of low cost carbon/glass fiber reinforced thermosetting composite for automobiles, the preparation, forming and lightweight of continuous and long carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites, as well as functional supercritical microcellular foam injection molding and mold technology.
Dr. Michael Salmen from Germany, Head of Consulting Services, WBA Aachener Werkzeugbau Akademie GmbH, Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, delivered a speech of Industrialized mould manufacturing - Current status in Germany and future development. Dr. Salmen introduced the past and current situation and the future development of the die and mould industry in Germany, as well as the Industry 4.0 in the tooling industry—five key fields of action constitute tooling of tomorrow.
The Round Table Forum of the First China Die & Mould Industrial Development Summit Forum (Huangyan) was hosted by Secretary-general of CDMIA Qin Ke in the afternoon of November 18. The theme of the Round Table Forum was How to make China die and mould from big to power. The purpose of the Round Table Forum was to diagnose the development trend and emergent problems to be solved of die and mould industry in China. Full dialogue and discussion was carried out among industry experts, entrepreneurs, governments and industry association leaders with the topics of effective application of manufacturing core technology and improvement of enterprise performance, integrated forming and industrial extension, talent cultivation and development, technology innovation, strategic and business planning, international capacity cooperation, construction of intelligent mold town, regional harmonious development and brand strategy, etc. The Round Table Forum consisted of three units—“strategic development and strategic cooperation” unit, “technical orientation and technical innovation” unit, and “market-oriented and market-promotion” unit. Experts from universities and colleges, representatives from elite mold enterprises, persons in charge of die and mould industrial gathering areas, upstream and downstream users of die and mould industry, well-known experts from enterprises, leaders of Huangyan District governments, mould enterprises in Huangyan pooled their wisdom, spoke freely and contributed their ideas in order to speed up the development and transformation of die and mould industry in Huangyan. They discussed and close interacted on the topic of improving ability and showing strength.
Subsequently, on the Automobile Mould Sub-Forum, Yi Pin, Director of Digitalization and Informationization Committee of CDMIA and General Manager of EMan Software Technology gave a report of Automatic Manufacturing Scheme and Steps of Automobile Plastic Mould concerning the issue of informatization and digitization, quality control and efficiency improvement. CEO of China Auto Parts & Accessories Investment Holding Tian Yamei gave a speech titled Automobile Moulds and Application of Automotive Lightweight Technology concerning the precise docking and collaborative development of the two fields of automobile and mould.
On the Sub-Forum of Die & Mould for “The Belt and Road” Equipment, Professor of Dalian University of Technology and Director of Die & Mould Institute of DLUT made a speech of Technology for Plastic Extrusion Die. During the speech, questions were posed constantly and the interaction was very warm. Mr. Liang Bin, Chairman of the Board of JC Times Group showed an outstanding manufacturing cognition.
On the Sub-Forum of New Idea of Mould Talent Training in New Age, Secretary-general of Vocational Education Committee of CDMIA Zhang Yingxi gave a speech of New Thought of Mold Talent Cultivation under the Vision of Industry and Education Integration. Professor Maik Strehl from Berlin BBW Hochschule University of Applied Science brought us the vocational education idea of mold talent cultivation in Germany. Professor Pan Baisong, doctoral supervisor of Zhejiang University of Technology discussed the cultivation mode of high skilled mechanical talents for high quality manufacturing. Deputy Secretary of Party Committee of Taizhou Vocational & Technical College, Researcher Zhang Wei gave a lecture titled Industry and Education Integrated Cultivating Mode Construction for Die & Mould Specialty with the Trinity of “Quality-Skill-Knowledge”, and showed the achievements of talents development in manufacturing industry.
Experts attending the forum explored demonstrated mold manufacturing enterprises in Huangyan such as JC Times Group and Zhejiang Saihao Industrial in the morning of November 19. Through visit and exchange, mold manufacturing enterprises in Huangyan showed their strength, exchanged ideas, and saw the future direction of development. The forum promoted the development of China die & mould from big to power through promoting the fission and jump of Huangyan.
